Itsy Bitsy Spider Felt Board

Itsy Bitsy Spider

Such a classic song for young children to enjoy, and it's very easy to make the felts to accompany the song and story. Toddlers, in particular, love this action song.

Adding some glittery felt paint will add to the final product.

The Wheels on the Bus for the Felt Board

The Wheels on the Bus is such a classic song, that young children, particularly toddlers, always enjoy. For caregivers, the song is a great one for it can change in its length, by adding or subtracting the verses. In daycare situations, sometimes every verse is sung and maybe sung again to keep the children seated and entertained! And, the felt pieces for the felt board is an additional bonus:)

When I am using these felts and singing the song, I start with the outside of the bus, and then go to the inside of the bus, and place the bus over the seats to finish the song. The children love it!

Out in the Garden: Felt Board Poem for May

This is a wonderful felt set to sing with the following song, to the tune of Down By the Station

Out in the garden in the month of May
See the pretty flowers standing in a row
See the little birds flying down to greet them
Tweet tweet tweet and off they go.

Sing the same words and replace with

See the little bees...buzz, buzz, buzz
See the little butterflies...flutter, flutter, flutter

For an extension to this song, children can act out the song! In addition, it works well for circle time transitions.

Nursery Rhymes and the Felt Board

Hickory Dickory Dock, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Itsy Bitsy Spider

Nursery Rhymes have existed for centuries. According to Wikipedia, Baa Baa Black Sheep can be dated back to 1744! Young children, especially toddlers, still enjoy the melodic sound of a rhyme. The repetition of words along with the rhythm of the lines help in language development. In addition, many of our favorite children's songs, such as the Itsy Bitsy Spider, originated as nursery rhymes. Today, there are numerous websites, blogs and youtube channels where nursery rhymes can be found, from classic to unfamiliar as well as different versions, all which can correlate to felt pieces.
