Old Macdonald Had a Farm--Felt Board and Finger Puppet

Old Macdonald Had a Farm---Ei, Ei, O....such a classic song, and perfect for young children, particularly toddlers as they begin learning the sounds of animals with the beginning stages of language development.

An alternative way of sharing the song aside from making felt pieces for the felt board, is to make puppets for children to enjoy.

Another idea for making puppets for Old Macdonald Had a Farm is to make stick puppets. For further information, visit my other blog by clicking on the photo below.

Felt Glove Puppets

Finger puppets are a great way to interact with young children while singing or telling stories. For convenience, and to avoid losing the smaller felt pieces, I chose to glue the pieces onto the fingers of the glove, but there is the option of putting velcro on the back of each piece and then pulling off.

Old Macdonal Had a Farm is such a classic, I will not place the lyrics here, but....
Five Little Monkeys Swinging in the Tree

Five little monkeys swinging in the tree
Teasing Mr. Crococile, "you can't catch me, no you can't catch me!"
Along came Mr. Crocodile as quiet as can be and...
SNAP!
(Place one finger into your palm if felt pieces are glued like this glove, or if removable then simply take the monkey off)

Four little monkeys swinging in tree...

Many like to finish this chant with the last monkey saying, "missed me, missed me, now you have to kiss me!"
